A leaf showed me the way
2017
Framed leaves and digital printing on acetate
This work is the result of a long time collecting and analyzing intervened leaves by leaf-mining insects and their drawing paths. These two leaves are chosen by their contrasting visual characteristics. The orange one was found in Baiersdorf during the Bavarian autumn and the dark green one in a place near Bogotá called Facatativá and its everlasting spring.
In a past project those drawn leaves made me think about my own paths during one day and the transformation they evoke, which is way more visible in the leaf miner insect who starts as an egg and takes off as a flying being from the leaf.
This time I propose the viewer to walk without a goal by just following one of these two leaf paths that was once wandered by these beings, to finally, metamorphose and fly away.
The work is composed by the two real leaves inside white frames 30 x 50 cm and below each leaf the acetate sheets (see image below) for the viewers.
